About Christianity - The Gospel
The Gospel means literally 'good news'. But you won't understand this good news unless you first truly understand the bad news. If we will humble ourselves and confess our need for forgiveness then we can taste of the wonderful goodness and love of God toward us.Romans: 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
God sees us as sinners, as those who have fallen short of his standards. Because of his goodness, he cannot ignore sin but will judge sin wherever it is found. But what if one is found who has never sinned, who is totally righteous in God's eyes. Could his righteousness be transferred to another? In God's justice, this is exactly what He has done. Since sin came into the world through one man - Adam, it is Gods plan that righteousness can be restored back through one man; Jesus Christ the Son of God. Jesus died a sinner's death and as our substitute, the judgement of sin fell on him, even though He never sinned. Consider the words of Isaiah the prophet who writing 500 years before Christ, prophecies;
"But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities:
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53: 5 & 6
Now God declares that whoever will turn from their wicked ways and put their trust in what Jesus has done will be saved:
"Whoever calls on the name of the Lord, shall be saved" Acts 2:21
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" Acts 2:38
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16
Through His death on the cross we can have life, atonement (forgiveness) for our sins and be reconciled to the Father. Will you put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and receive the love of the Father? This is of such importance that you should not trust our words alone. Read the Bible for yourself and pray and ask the Father to confirm to you by the Holy Spirit the truth of His Word; and the truth will set you free. And the truth is Jesus.
